I am a huge fan of football. I have watched it as long as I can remember. I am going to give brief bios of some of my favorite football stars!

Emmitt Smith-Born May 15, 1969 in Pensacola, Florida.

At Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida, Emmitt Smith rushed for 8,804 yards and scored 106 touchdowns. His team won the state championship in his sophomore and junior seasons. Smith set 58 school records, including the single game rushing record, in his very first start with University of Florida.

In his pro career, with the Dallas Cowboys, he set a record of 18,355 yards making him the ONLY player to ever rush more than 18,000 yards.

He was a SuperBowl and NFL MVP.

Peyton Manning-Born March 24, 1975 in New Orleans, La. He is the son of former New Orleans Saint quarterback Archie Manning, as well as brother to New York Giant quarterback Eli Manning.

Peyton played high school football for Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans and college football for the University of Tennessee.

He became the Volunteers all-time leading passer with 11,201 yards, 863 completions and 89 touchdowns, while leading them to a 39-6 record as their starter.

Peyton was selected first overall in the 1998 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts, and has started every game in his Pro career. He holds a number of individual NFL career records, which include touchdowns per game for QB, yards per game for QB and points per game for QB.

Dan Marino- Born September 15, 1961.

Dan Marino stars as quarterback for the Vikings of Pittsburgh’s Central Catholic High School. By his senior year, 1978, he is selected to the Parade High School All America team, recruited to play football by numerous major universities, and is also drafted to play baseball for the Kansas City Royals. Ultimately he chooses to stay near home and attend the University of Pittsburgh. Dan Marino’s record-breaking legacy begins as he completes 362 of 564 passes for 5,084 yards and 48 touchdowns, setting NFL records for completions, yards and TD's in a season. In the playoffs, the 14-2 Dolphins beat the Seattle Seahawks 31-10, then goes on to defeat Pittsburgh 45-28 in the AFC Championship game, with Dan throwing for 421 yards and four TD's. In Super Bowl XIX, they fall to the San Francisco 49ers, 38 to 16. Dan is named to the Pro Bowl

In todays sports entertainment world, the competition is tougher than ever. And with that comes popularity. The popularity may come from a certain name, their attitudes, what they look like, and what I have decided to do with this particular blog is name some of my favorite athletes from across the many different types of sports, and some interesting facts about them.

First and foremost my personal favorite:
Dale Earnhardt Jr- born October 10, 1974 to Dale Earnhardt Sr in Kannapolis, N.C.

He began his racing/driving career when he was only 17 years old, and he started out driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. He is a 2 time Nascar Busch series champion, and has 12 Nextel Cup victories under his belt, for DEI racing, in the # 8 Budweiser Chevrolet. His hobbies are computer games, video games, and hanging out with his friends. He is not married at this time.

Jeff Gordon-born August 4, 1971 in Vallejo, CA but was raised in Indiana. His career began at an amazing age 5. Before ever turning 18 he had already won 3 short track races and was named USAC MIDGET CAR RACING ROOKIE of the year in 1989. He is a 4 time Nascar/Nextel Cup Champion for the Hendrix Motorsports team, driving the # 24 Dupont Chevrolet. Jeff Gordon has 50 career victory wins to claim, and is the youngest driver to have ever have this many victories at such a young age. He is married with one child.

Kasey Kahne-Born April 10, 1980 and began his career at the age of 14 years old. He has 7 career cups wins for Ray Evernham Motors No. 9 Dodge. His highest finish in the Chase for the Cup is 8th in point standings. This young man has a great career ahead of him. Kasey Kahne won the 2000 USAC Midget championship, and was named the USAC Driver of the Year and Silver Bullet Series Rookie of the Year.

Tony Stewart-Bon May 20, 1971. Tony started his racing career at the age of 7. Tony won his first racing championship in 1980 when he came out on top of a four-cycle rookie junior class championship at the Columbus (Ind.) In 1998, Stewart took the Busch Series by storm, winning three races and rookie of the year honors. He also became the first person to complete the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, finishing ninth and fourth, respectively. Tony Stewart won his first cup championhip in 2002 for Joe Gibbs racing in the # 20 Home Depot Chevrolet. He is claimant of 17 Victories for Joe Gibbs Racing.

We all know this doesn't begin to cover every popular driver out there, it is merely start!
